I picked indie, soft rock and alternative. A lot of it is quite unusual, beautiful and soft.

i picked Gothic metal n that coz i think its amazing!!! you can just feel the emotion. The songs arent about lame issues like falling in love and stuff, there about real life issues, some horrible but its raw and pure n u can feel the power it creates inside u. To no wot im tlking on about listen to KoRn - Kill You.

Surely falling in love is a real life issue? Far more so than the kind of false crap that such modern "Gothic" bands moan on and on about. Yeah... let's destroy shit and so on. I mean, what the hell is that about. Sure, many love songs are crappy and cheesy and shit but so is most music. Take Love Will Tear Us Apart, a truly beautiful and harrowing song about love. That's amazing and far better than most stuff.

Now now Lloyd, don't call goth crap. There are some truly good goth bands, like Lacuna Coil and Evanescence. As for Joy Division - now that's what I think is rubbish

Joy Division, one of the most critically acclaimed bands ever to come out of Manchester. Do you hear the same things about Evanescence and Lacuna Coil? Wait, no, because they're crap And don't you call your music alternative. Now MY music, that's alternative

Joy Division are Gothic my dear. In fact, they essentially invented the Gothic genre. Tool for example owe a lot to them. As do Ninch Inch Nails (note the NIN cover of Souls etc) and also Marilyn Manson.... all of them really. Most modern music owes its existance to them.

Hell Nick, I think this is going to be a hell of a long long story. Lacuna Coild and Evanescence are famous bands. Why not just leave it at that - we have different tastes of music.

Hello, I put down metal, but I only like certain sub-genres within this wide ranging musical bracket.
Classic metal, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Judas Priest etc.
Early thrash metal, specifically Metallicas first 3 albums, Megadeths first 4 and Slayers 3rd and 4th. Technically complex with a good dosage of loud lyrics.
Recently, prog metal has been entertaining, Dream Theater and Symphony X specifically.
Guitar virtuoso is another hugely rewarding genre, here im talking about artists such as Vai, Satch, Yngwie, Friedman and Becker.
Of course the usual staples of Hendrix, Beathes, Floyd, Led Zep, The Who etc cannot be forgotten.
